BIOGRAPHY
Retro Firefly is the music project of Lowestoft-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Samantha Penman. She began writing music in her early teens, frequently finding inspiration in nature and her upbringing along the Suffolk Coast. Her music has an indie-folk vibe, taking inspiration from artists such as James Blunt and Aurora.
Retro Firefly has two albums, “Better Days” (released 2020), and “Underwater” (released 2021), and her latest release, Double A-Side "Where Did You Go?/My Life" is available on all major streaming platforms now!

Alongside writing and recording, Retro Firefly also gigs regularly in East Anglia, playing pubs, theatres and music venues, as well as performing at festivals such as First Light Lowestoft, Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Latitude.

In Spring 2024, Retro Firefly was chosen by First Light Festival Lowestoft to receive a residency at The Red Studio in Aldeburgh, in association with Britten Pears Arts. While there, she worked on writing new material to be performed at First Light Festival 2025.
Later in the year, she came runner up in The Milkmaid Folk Club’s Songwriting Competition for 2024, earning her a place on the Main Stage at Bury Folk Festival.
